Methodological Notes
The Central Providence Unidos dashboard presents data from various sources, each with its own methodology and limitations. When viewing American Community Survey (ACS) data, please note that these are estimates with margins of error, not precise counts. For smaller populations or geographies, these margins of error may be larger, affecting reliability. Â
Analyzing The Data
Compare Across Areas
Many visualizations allow you to compare data across different census tracts, ZIP codes, or other geographic divisions within Central Providence.
Examine Disparities
Pay special attention to racial, ethnic, gender, and income disparities revealed in the visualizations, as addressing these inequities is central to our mission.
Track Changes
Where available, look for trends over time to understand how conditions are changing.
Data Considerations
As we continue to learn about what public, administrative, and primary data we need to effectively analyze our impact, we will periodically update the dashboard. We used the following criteria in evaluating our choices of indicators.
- Geographic Granularity
We will continue to make efforts to obtain neighborhood-level data to reflect Central Providence conditions accurately.
- Data Power, Communication Power & Timeliness
Data sources must be statistically valid and seen as reputable to diverse stakeholder groups. Each indicator will be updated annually or as new datasets become available.
- Equity
Indicator selection prioritizes populations historically marginalized by systemic inequities.
- Relevance
Each indicator has logical connections to the strategies and outcomes outlined in the Roadmap.
- Bias Mitigation
Engage cross-sector stakeholders to provide qualitative context and ensure data reflects lived experiences.
